Offered for sale is a pair of Jennings Brothers bookends. Jennings Brothers was a manufacturing company located in Bridgeport, Connecticut established in 1891. They were known for the detail and exacting methods of their creations. Their creations are considered some of the finest crafted metal pieces ever made during the Arts & Crafts period. Authentic pieces are marked J. And are highly prized by collectors. Research indicates these are Dressage horses and include the pasture fence. They have their original felt bottoms. Both pieces are marked J. Under the horse sorry; it is anatomically correct and this is where the mark is located! The detail of the horse and it’s tack is truly remarkable. There is some wear of the silver plate on the horses and some discoloration of the bases in spots. Additionally, one horse has a rough ear – please see the photos. The base measures 7 3/8″X 2 5/8″ the height to the tips of the horses’ ears is 6 1/2. They are heavy enough to support books if you choose to use them this way.
