Hirsch Foundry “Pixie” bookends designed by Henri Fugere. These bookends were among other products that the New York City based foundry created. The Art Deco figures were cast in metal and mounted on marble bases. Both bookends are not missing any parts (books, hands, etc) and bear no cracks in the metal, have little paint missing and show only some minor chipping at a few edges of the marble bases. The bookends measure 6″ in length, 3″ in width and 7″ in height and they feature the aged, off-white “felt on the bases. The bookends are unmarked by J. They reflect his 1930 production of his “Pixie” bookends coupled with the highly stylized Art Deco design work of Henri Fugere. The “Pixie Readers” bookends feature figures that are donning their large pointed hats, holding books and have a hand raised as if to hold your books in place. They are painted in a black pigment and the detail work is painted in a silver pigment. This pair of “Pixie” bookends, the figures and the bases, are in terrific shape and.
