From a clean, smoke, and pet FREE home. Dante and Beatrice Spelter Bookends Circa1930’s. Dante was the Italian Renaissance poet and author of the “Divine Comedy”, and Beatrice was his inspirational love. These sculptural bookends likely date from the 1930’s and are extremely well cast in a coppery-bronze metal with a rich patina. The detail is truly exquisite, from Dante’s fine facial features to the curls and waves in Beatrice’s long hair, to the delicate brocade in her clothing. Each bookends measures approximately: 6.75″ T x 5.75″ L x 3 W. Each one weighs almost 3 lbs, so these are substantial old pieces. Excellent vintage condition, scratches on Dante’s head, which can be softened if polished (please see last photo for details). Table protector felt has been replaced.
