A pair of bronze clad bookends by Pompeian Bronze Company in the shape of owls sitting on top of a book. After all, owls are wise and are associated with books and learning. They are very detailed and have yellow painted eyes and red painted book covers. They rest flat on old black felts. One of which, is almost entirely gone. The two have a nice weight for holding up books. They have molded impressed marks on the spine of the books that reads 56 POMPEIAN BRONZE Co. 6 ¾” (17.1 cm) tall x 4 1/8″ (10.5 cm) wide x 2 5/8 (6.7 cm) deep. Weighs 5 lbs 1.6 oz (2315 g). There is some patina and paint loss to both owls. One is shinier and has traces of white in the crevices. The other had a bit darker and less shiny patina. The darker owl also has losses to the eyes. Three of the corners of the shinier bookends are dented. One of the corners on the other are dented. One owl has lost most of its felt on the base.
