Wonderful bookends depicting a sleek borzoi, alert to something. The bushy tail identifies it as borzoi; not whippet, which has a slender tail. Cast by Frankart, and appropriately marked. The base would be grey metal / spelter. I’ll say 1930s but I don’t really know. A few small wear spots on the bases but the finish on the pooches is almost spotless. The figures are secured firmly to their bases without wiggle (probably via screws in the bottoms but I haven’t looked). Both pieces sit flat and stable. 4 1/3 inches tall; base is 6 inches the long way; 2 1/2 inches the short. 3 1/2 pounds for the pair. Perfect gift for the one who enjoys vacuuming up really long dog hair.
