A very rare pair of Aladin French porcelain bookends dating from the 1930s, with a jester and a medieval maiden. The design is lovely – the jester is holding a toy of himself and there is a laughing monkey at the side of his chair, and she has a dog resting its head in her book. She is approximately 9 inches tall, and he is slightly shorter. They are both in excellent condition with just some light paint wear, and there is a faint 1 inch long hairline on the underside of her base (the tip of the pen is pointing to it); it does not go up onto the side or top of the bookend.
