Rare Rearing Horse Cowboy Heavy Bookend. This a great, Old West Bronco-busting cowboy made by the Armor Bronze company of New York in the late 1920s. The Armor Bronze company started as The National Metalizing Company in the early 1900s. They specialized in works of art, doorstops, bookends, and trays. In 1920, it became known as The Armor Bronze Co. Armor Bronze used an electroplating process to apply bronze to the plaster bases. This made heavy and beautifully detailed items including this doorstop/bookend. This is a single piece heavy enough to be a doorstop. It makes a super sculpture for your western decor or a gift for anyone who loves rodeo or Old Westerns. It is in good condition for age with the exception that the cowboy has an small slit in the cladding under his left ear and there is crackling on the white shirt. The left rein is detached but tucks into place for display. The bronzed and red-finished areas are in very good condition. It sits flat and stable. There is an original Armor Bronze label on the felt covered base. The label is in worn condition as shown. The statue/bookend is about 9 inches tall and 7 inches long.
