All items “as is – as found”. These Rodden bookends are futuristic and reminiscent of Fritz Lang’s film masterpiece, Metropolis. The face on the bookends is that of a stylized, very exotic woman, with beautiful upturned eyes. Each bookend is signed Rodden and stamped 1934. On the rare occasions these bookends appear, the faceplate is usually attached to a copper back and base. I have never seen this particular design. Each base has geometric patterns accented by a light red color. The bookends are very heavy, weighing over 7 lbs by themselves. They are nearly 6 ½ inches tall and are in overall good condition, with the typical wear on the metal that is seen on bookends nearly 90 years old. There is a hint of rust on both bookends where the faceplate sits on the base (please check pictures closely). One of the bookends is slightly tilted forward (I assume from casting but not sure – please check picture). The pair still has their worn original felt that wraps around from the top of the back to the bottom of the base. Pictures are an important part of the description – please carefully check all of them for condition. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Decorative Collectibles\Bookends”.
