Pair of Art Deco Connecticut Foundry The Wanderer Iron Bookends 1928
A heavy, detailed, well cast pair of iron bookends by Connecticut Foundry that is whimsical with good Art Deco lines. A heavy cast iron bookend with a deeply cast design of a man with tall hat playing a flute while a rabbit sits mesmerized in front of him. The iron bookend is heavy and has a very Deco architectural edge. The bookend has a bronze patina. 5 ¾” (14.6 cm) tall x 5 ½” (14.0 cm) long x 1 5/8 (5.1 cm) thick. Weighs 2 lb 10.9 oz (1215 g). There are no breaks or cracks. The patina on one bookend is slightly brighter than the other. They both have a nice aged look and they are in excellent condition with no rust. There are a couple of small spots on the base near the bunny on one bookend where the patina is missing and there is a slight scratch. There is very slight wear to the foreground on both. They have no felt on their bases. I love the Art Deco design and the humorous subject matter. Add a flair of Deco to your bookshelf.
