Art Deco Winged Cherub, Fairy, Angel in the Forest Metal Bookend 1920’s With Masonic History. This whimsical duo of cherubs or forest fairies are reclining in the woods, leaning up against giant books. The finished metal is meant to look like bronze with some green patination applied to the dark metal. These heavy bookends are in good shape and as art objects to, are nice on their own or to help hold books, plants, CD’s, or anything you like. They measure 6″ high and close to 5″ wide along the sides. The bottoms of bookends like this have both the original firmly welded plates beneath many bookends of this age are missing them. Plus, they are nicely lined with a short pile green velvet to protect them and anything the bookends rest upon. What is rare about this set, is that they have some known history. The oldest Tuscan Masonic Lodge, No. 704 in Pennsylvania appears in raised letters on the books’ binders so Ronson company must have produced these as a special request of the Tuscan #704. Free and Accepted Masons F. This seems to correspond to the Mount Olivet Lodge in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. Nice, historic objects d’art from another era. I trust you will enjoy them as much as I have.
