Welcome To The Antique Cabinet. For your consideration is a beautiful & very rare set of French Art Deco ETLING Frosted Art Glass Bookends. Much of our research & info is obtained from the online “Etling Project” site which is a wonderful and highly recommended site to visit! Edmond Laurent Etling founded his business around 1909, his shop was located at. 29 Rue de Paradis in Paris France. With obvious great vision and instinct for desired style, his retail business became very admired and respected for its innovated and high-quality designs which were produced in an array of mediums. Along with having his own. Team of glass-workers which were based at the Cristalleries et Verreries de Choisy-le-Roi Réunies (in the outskirts of Paris), he also. Designs from some of the top freelance designers & artist of the period. Edmond Etling was without doubt one of the key players in the Art Deco movement. On an interesting yet very sad note, being Jewish resulted with Etling, his entire family and his glass workers all being rounded-up and sent to Nazi concentration camps where they met their deaths during WWII. They are frosted glass depicting a lovely nude sitting female with long draping hair. They have wonderful detail and are even more alluring when displayed in front of a light source. They are mounted & further enhanced with intricate pierced silver-tone metal bases – probably one of a kind. Both bookends are properly signed in mold “Etling France 68″. They measure (with bases included) approx. 5″ tall by 6½” long and are in. Excellent condition, glass is free of any chips, cracks or repairs and very lite wear, bases are good also with age-related wear and tarnishing.
