The bookends show a bust of Dante and Beatrice emerging from the cover of an open book. The figures are shown looking away from the viewer and have excellent attention to detail throughout. The covers are inscribed with their names next to the busts, the pieces have their original dark brown patina or color. They are marked on the back J.
